The all electric Tesla Model Y is becoming more and more popular in the Washington, DC metro region. The mini SUV is a slightly taller and roomier version of the Model 3, with a rear hatch and larger rear cargo space. Just like the Model 3, the Tesla Model Y is very prone to receive door dings and dents on its side panels. The design elements of the the car, including the flush door handles and protruding accent body lines, contribute to more door dings caused by other people opening their car doors into the Model Y. If you get a small dent or ding in your Tesla Model Y, don’t fret. Dent Hero can help.

Dent Hero has been fixing dents in Tesla’s since the original Model S was released in 2012. We have the experience and knowledge to know how to approach and fix car dents and dings on these unique vehicles. One of the challenges associated with Tesla Model Y dent repair is the fact that the car is composed of both aluminum and steel body panels. Aluminum can be more challenging to repair with PDR (paintless dent repair) due to the stiffness and lack of memory. PDR involves gaining access behind the dent and slowly and methodically pushing it, until the body panel returns to its original shape. Aluminum is harder to manipulate. However, paintless dent repair is still possible and a great option for dented aluminum body panels, when performed by a highly skilled PDR technician.

Tesla Model Y’s and Model 3’s also have sections of the car that can be very difficult to repair with paintless dent repair, due to how the cars are constructed. The top sections of the doors, above the accent body line, are composed of multiple layers of sheet metal. In order to remove dents in the upper section of the doors on Tesla’s , we sometimes have to disassemble the interior door panel. This adds time and complexity to the repair, but allows us to sneak around the multiple layers of metal and gain access to the interior side of the dented panel. Disassembly is also required when we fix dents in the rear quarter panel of the Tesla Model Y.

Tesla dent repair can be challenging. The good news is, small dents and dings can be repaired using paintless dent repair. No body filler, sanding, or painting required. If you receive a dent in your Tesla, we recommend doing your research and finding a highly skilled dent repair technician that has experience working on these awesome cars. We certainly hope you choose Dent Hero to fix the damage on your Tesla Model Y, Model 3, Model X, or Model S!
